Ballona Creek runs through Culver City to the Pacific Ocean and is one of those Army Corps of Engineer’s flood control projects (think of a mini Los Angeles River but with a little bit more water, so you can’t quite drive a car down it). This was one of the first things I photographed when moving to Culver City in 1997. In 2012, I re-photographed the same views with an iPhone and the Hipstamatic app to compare the classic Diana 151 plastic-lensed camera, with it’s analog, silver-based film to it’s silicon counterpart.
Well, I think there is no comparison…silicon is close, but it ain’t no Diana.
